Dr. Sharma completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, in 2007. He went on to earn his M.Tech in Structural and Construction Engineering from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (NITJ), in 2015. He further pursued his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, (TIET), Patiala, in 2022 (Jan). His doctoral research, titled “Studies on the Mechanical Behavior of FRP Reinforced Concrete Beams using Acoustic Emission and Digital Image Correlation”, focused on advanced testing techniques for FRP-reinforced concrete structures.

Dr. Sharma has extensive experience in experimental testing of FRP-reinforced concrete structures, particularly through non-destructive techniques such as acoustic emission and digital image processing. Additionally, he joined an advanced material testing research group at Incheon National University, South Korea (from Sept. 2023- July 2024), as a Postdoctoral researcher, where he expanded his expertise in the microstructural analysis of advanced cement-based materials and state-of-the-art material testing techniques.

His primary research interests lie in the design of FRP-reinforced concrete structures and the use of advanced cement-based materials. His work focuses on the structural behavior of FRP-reinforced concrete, concrete technology, and the development of sustainable cement-based materials. He is currently supervising two M.Tech. candidates and three Ph.D. candidates.
