The Department of English offers undergraduate, post-graduate & doctoral programs in the discipline. It is known for its eminent alumni network who gained name and fame pan India for their contribution to academics, research and the society. The department provides first-rate infrastructural support for carrying out quality research and is equipped with state-of-the-art software-based English Language Laboratory, Smart Classrooms, Seminar Halls, Group Discussion Rooms, Departmental as well as Central Library. Students of English get exposure to literature of various cultures including the British, American & Indian; learn how to use English language for personal & professional growth and explore various courses related to English Literature, English Language, Drama, Poetry, Grammar, Literary Criticism, Creative Writing and Linguistics, etc.
The department has faculty members who have completed their education from premier universities and most of them hold a doctoral degree. Many young aspiring teachers have also joined who are UGC-NET, JRF qualified and look forward to contributing to the field of teaching and research. The department follows Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Learning Outcome-Based Curriculum Framework for enhanced student learning experience. The department emphasizes on faculty and student research and the faculty members have been contributing to the field of research by publishing quality papers in UGC Care/SCOPUS indexed journals, books, book chapters and presenting papers at international level conferences. Our students add feather in our cap by contributing to research through quality publications in reputed journals and conference paper presentations. The Department has doctoral research scholars with specialization in major areas of literary, language and communication studies.
