Medical Lab Technology

B.Sc MLT is an undergraduate course offered by the School of Allied Health Sciences at Lingaya's Vidyapeeth. This is a paramedical program concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases through clinical laboratory tests. The course aims at equipping individuals with the knowledge and practical exposure to collect samples of important data, examination, documentation and reporting for the same. 

Students will learn to perform diagnostic analysis through haematological, bacteriological, immunologic, chemical and microscopic tests to facilitate the treatment of diseases. This course is suitable for individuals with a keen interest in research and science, they should also be capable of using computers, digital equipment and understanding new technologies.

Medical laboratory professionals have unlimited choices of practice settings. Hospitals, Clinics, Nursing homes, Public health facilities, and Commercial laboratories all have positions open right now for qualified laboratory professionals. In these settings, communication and research skills are highly valued. The employment of clinical laboratory workers is expected to grow as the volume of laboratory tests increases with population growth and the development of new types of tests.

  • Collecting clinical specimens of patients
  • Labelling clinical specimens
  • Safely storing the specimens
  • Examining the specimen by subjecting it to specific tests
  • Writing down the findings
  • Passing down his/her observations to the main pathologist

Course Duration: 3 years – Two Semesters per year

Subjects: Clinical Endocrinology & Toxicology Lab, Diagnostic Molecular Biology Lab, Diagnostic Cytology

Eligibility: 50% in +2 in Science
